The EPL Live @ The Barclays Asia Trophy by #TuneTalk.

I have always been a football fan since young; in fact, I had started watching football since the early 1990s. Back then, it was very difficult to catch the English Premier League on TV; no ASTRO, no internet... nothing lor. I had to wait for the weekly highlights on every Friday afternoon just to catch some of the action. I started supporting Manchester United in 1994 - the year Eric Cantona kungfu-kicked a fan at Selhurst Park vs Crystal Palace, and was banned for months.

Anyways, today, times have improved. Football, especially the EPL, is easily available on TV today. But nothing beats watching it LIVE, than watching it on TV. All my life - I have only managed to catch a couple of games live at the stadium, and most of them were at Stadium Bukit Jalil, and once at Shah Alam. =)

While I studied in the UK, I never took the opportunity to catch any games as tickets were too expensive. A few years back, I won tickets to go watch Manchester United vs Chelsea at Old Trafford (the game that Paul Scholes scored and United won 1-0...) through a little tv contest. However, after reaching Heathrow airport in London, I decided not to go watch it - but thats another story itself.

Recently, TuneTalk was involved in the Barclays Asia Trophy - brought in Chelsea, Aston Villa and Blackburn Rovers to contest against Kitchee of Hong Kong - I missed it, but after seeing the pictures taken by Xiang - I was like.... FUWAHHH... if only I was there.

How often do you get to watch Chelsea celebrating? But they were scoring against Kitchee. So...

I see this picture and I feel as though I am on the field too LOL.

All the action LIVE in front of your eyes.

...and a close-up of Frank Lampard.

Link roundup

1. I mentioned before that I actually preferred Last.fm to Spotify because it does a decent job streaming songs you might like, while Spotify is just a big library. Well, here's Lifehacker's recommendations for how to get a similar service at Spotify.

2. I'm not sure if I've posted about this before, but Boise State's college football team has enjoyed an unfair advantage for years - - they wear blue uniforms and play on a blue field, which makes it very difficult for opposing coaches to study their formations (the players blend into the background). Well, they can't wear the uniforms on that field anymore.

Terengganu beat Kelantan to Lift 2011 FA Cup!

Terengganu ended an 11-year drought to lift the 22nd edition of the FA Cup when they edged Kelantan 2-1 in the final at the National Stadium, Bukit Jalil Saturday night. Ahmad Nordin Alias emerged as the Terengganu hero when he scored the decider after both teams were tied 1-1 at the end of the second half.

The last time Terengganu lifted the trophy was in 2000 when they beat Penang 5-3 through penalty kicks after being tied 1-1 at the end of extra time. With the victory tonight, Terengganu created history when it became the last champion to lift the trophy which was introduced in 2005 and used for seven editions of the FA Cup final.

Previously, the first FA Cup trophy was used in 15 editions from 1990 until 2004 and the Perak team, who became the first champion and final champion in 2004, were given the honour to keep the trophy permanently. A new trophy to replace the FA Cup will be introduced next season. Playing in front of a capacity-packed stadium, both Terengganu and Kelantan were evenly matched at the outset of the game but lacked finishing.

Irfan Bakti Abu Salim's charges had a sitter in the 20th minute but striker Abdul Hadi Yahaya's attempt from the top of the penalty box found Kelantan goalkeeper Khairul Fahmi Che Mat's safe pair of hands. On the other hand, Kelantan's best opportunity in the first half came in the 40th minute but striker Norshahrul Idlan Talaha's stinging shot was parried by Terengganu goalkeeper Mohd Sharbinee Allawee Ramli.

The situation became a bit tense five minutes after the breather when firecrackers were hurled towards Mohd Sharbinee, forcing the referee to stop the match for five minutes. The Red Warriors broke the deadlock in the 79th minute when Mohd Nurul Azwan Roya, having collected a pass from Mohd Shakir Shaari, eluded Kelantan defenders and chipped the ball with his left foot over the bewildered Terengganu goalkeeper.

With pressure piling up, Terengganu made several counter-attacks which eventually paid off when Kelantan's Mohd Daudsu Jamaluddin nodded in an owned goal in a haste to clear a lob in front of the goal mouth five minutes into the extra time. After the regulation time ended with a 1-1 draw, the match went into a 30-minute extra time.

Ahmad Nordin Alias became the darling of Terengganu's fans when he volleyed the ball into the net from a corner kicked in the 109 minute to edge Kelantan 2-1. The victory was made more meaningful for Terengganu as the FA Cup was presented by Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin. Terengganu captain Mohd Mazuki Yusof was named the best player in the final.

Red Devils Clinch Premier League Title Against Blackburn!

Manchester United secured their Barclays Premier League 'Champions' status on Saturday, as The Red Devils did enough by drawing 1-1 with Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park. The result makes United the most successful football club in English domestic league history, as Wayne Rooney's second-half emphatic penalty strike cancelled-out Brett Emerton's 20th minute goal. 'We've done it !' was the general feeling. After 24 years, Sir Alex has claimed his 12th Premier League title - finally knocking Liverpool off their perch, and making Manchester United most decorated English footie club in history with a tally of 19 league crowns. The wait is over, let's celebrate... Saturday is the pinnacle party: 76,000 fans packed into Old Trafford to watch The Red Devils lift the Premier League trophy at full-time against Blackpool. What a feeling !

Real Madrid 0 Barcelona 2.

Lionel Messi struck twice late on as Barcelona took a huge step towards the Champions League final with a 2-0 semi-final, first leg win over 10-man Real Madrid at the Bernabeu. Messi, taking his tally to 52 in all competitions this season, netted in the 76th and 87th minutes - the second a typically brilliant solo effort - to settle an ill-tempered clash which saw Madrid defender Pepe sent off in the 61st minute.

That incident also saw Madrid coach Jose Mourinho - who on Tuesday sparked a war of words with counterpart Pep Guardiola - sent to the stands, while Barca reserve goalkeeper Jose Pinto was also shown a red card following an incident at half-time.

However, the end result means Barca, European champions in 2006 and 2009, are now firm favourites to progress to next month's final at Wembley.

Southampton 1 Man Utd 2. =) *wooots*

STAND-IN strikers Michael Owen and Javier Hernandez rescued Manchester United from an FA Cup upset. Trailing 1-0 to Richard Chaplow's thumping strike, Owen netted a typical poacher's effort before Hernandez pounced on sub Ryan Giggs' killer pass.

It was tough luck on Southampton, who might have found themselves 2-0 ahead at the break but for Guly's shocking miss. But ultimately the quality of Giggs told - just as it did in United's comeback win at Blackpool in midweek - to keep United's Treble dream alive.

Saints started with good intent and Rickie Lambert saw a header blocked by Jonny Evans. Dan Harding's effort was ruled out for offside before Owen twice went close for the visitors. Gabriel Obertan wasted a decent chance but not quite as glaring as the one Guly passed up just before the break as he headed over unmarked six yards out. But Saints still went in front at the break as Chaplow crashed home a superb drive moments later than left United's debut keeper Anders Lindegaard no chance.

Owen, though, soon found his range and drew United level in the 65th minute, nodding home Obertan's deflected drilled cross. And 10 minutes later, Owen cut out a loose ball and fed Giggs, whose precise pass fell perfectly for Hernandez to get the vital touch, with the ball bobbling over the line.
