Hadith: When Anyone of You is Observing Fast

Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, "Allah the Exalted and Majestic said: `Every act of the son of Adam is for him, except As-Siyam (the fasting) which is (exclusively) for Me, and I will reward him for it.' Fasting is a shield. When anyone of you is observing fast, he should neither indulge in obscene language nor should he raise his voice; and if anyone reviles him or tries to quarrel with him, he should say: `I am fasting.' By Him in Whose Hand the soul of Muhammad is, the breath of one observing Saum is sweeter to Allah than the fragrance of musk. The one who fasts, experiences two joys: he feels pleasure when he breaks the fast. He is joyful by virtue of his fast when he meets his Rubb.''

Commentary:
"Khuluf'', is the smell that comes from the mouth of person who observes Saum. It results from the thirst and hunger which he has to suffer during the Saum. The Hadith not only tells us the merits of Saum but also brings into focus the true significance of it. Saum is not thus mere abstention from food, drink and sexual intercourse, but also keeping away from all evils and vices and embracing virtues.

Hadith on Ramzan Fasting - The Excellence of Observing Saum

Abu Sa`id Al-Khudri (Radi Allah Anhu) reported: The Messenger of Allah ((Sall'Allahu alaihi wasallam)) said, "Every slave of Allah who observes Saum (fasting) for one day for the sake of ALLAH, Subhanahu wa ta'ala,, Allah will draw his face farther from Hell-fire to the extent of a distance to be covered in seventy years.''

Hadith on Ramzan Fasting

Commentary:

"Every slave of Allah'' includes men, women, the free and the unfree, because they are slaves of Allah. The Hadith highlights the excellence of fasting for the sake of Allah-Jallah jalala hu, which will serve, on the Day of Resurrection, as shield against Hell-fire.

Hadith sahih Muslim

شروع الله کے نام سے جو بڑا مہربان نہایت رحم والا ہے

As-Salaam Alaikum Wa-Rahmatullahi Wa-Barakatuhu

Abu Mu'sa (Radi'Allahu anhu) reported
Allah's Messenger (Sall'Allahu alaihi wa sallam) as saying that Allah,
the Exal..................ted and Glorious,

Stretches out His Hand during the night
so that the people repent for the fault
committed from dawn till dusk

and He stretches out His Hand daring the day
so that the people may repent
f...or the fault committed from dusk to dawn.

(He would accept repentance)
before the sun rises in the west.
(before the Day of Resurrection)

A hadith like this has been narrated
on the authority of Shu'ba with the same chain of transmitters.

The most greatful of people to Allah

"The most greatful of people to Allah are those who are most grateful to other people" (hadith)

A Beautiful Hadith

Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said: 'When a man dies and his relatives are busy in funeral, there stands an extremely handsome man by his head. When the dead body is shrouded, that man gets in between the shroud and the chest of the deceased.

Thereafter he turns to his dead companion and says, 'I am the Qur'an, which you used to read, sometimes in a loud voice and sometimes in a low voice. Do not worry. After the interrogation of Munkar and Naker, you will have no grief.'


When the interrogation is over, the handsome man arranges for him from Al-Mala'ul A'laa (the angels in Heaven) silk bedding filled with musk.

Rasulullah (Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) said: 'On the Day of Judgement, before Allah, no other Intercessor will have a greater status than the Qur'an, neither a Prophet nor an angel.'
