Most 'luxurious' cat breeds
Although there are plenty of alley cats and stray cats that many people (non-cat lovers for sure) would not give 1 penny for, there are some 'luxury' cat breeds that command quite a hefty price and some very avid customers (cat-lovers for sure) that are willing to pay whatever it costs to own these exotic felines.
The Ashera is the most expensive cat breed in the world with an average price of $28,000. This breed also has a hypoallergenic version which costs anywhere from $37,000 to $125,000 depending on the coat pattern. The Ashera looks like a mix of a leopard and a cat and and it originated in California with the crossing an African serval, a domestic cat and an Asian leopard cat. These felines stand 4 feet tall on their hind legs, can weight up to 30 pounds and live for up to 25 years. Only 4 to 5 of these cats are born PER YEAR.
And although the Bengal cat holds the Guiness record as the world's most expensive cat after a lady in England paid $42,000 for a Bengal feline, second on the list of most expensive cat breeds is the Savannah.
Although there has been great controversy and even legal battles regarding the legitimacy of the Ashera vs the Savannah breed, Savannah cats are definitely in the same league when it comes to their price tag. Savannahs are a cross between an African Serval and a domestic house cat. They are classified as F1, F2, F3 etc which indicates how many generations it is from its serval ancestor. The prices vary accordingly and can range anywhere from $950 for an F5 to $22,000 for an F1.
But if you are ready to indulge your senses by buying one of these exotic felines, remember that their price tag is not their bottom line price as these magnificent cats require special needs in terms of their diet, health care and caging requirements which too can be very costly.
These are by all means the most magnificent, luxurious, and expensive cat breeds.
